Cafe Mambo Ibiza: Sunset Tables, Minimum Spend and Tips

Cafe Mambo is the sunset bar and restaurant on San Antonio's sunset strip, next door to Cafe del Mar, open since 1994. People go for the DJs and the sun dropping into the sea, and the table you get depends on how early you book.

Quick answer: Cafe Mambo in San Antonio opens daily from 10am to 3am in season. There is no minimum spend before 6pm, but from 6pm every area carries a minimum spend whose amount is not published, so book early on the venue's own site. To see the same sunset from the water, the sunset boat tour from San Antonio harbour costs from 80 EUR, rated 4.9 from 102 reviews.

Cafe Mambo sits on San Antonio's sunset strip, next to Cafe del Mar. It opened in 1994 and works as a restaurant and cocktail bar from breakfast onwards, with DJs playing as the sun goes down. This guide is independent and is not the venue's website.

Cafe Mambo in five facts

  • Open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 3am in season.
  • No minimum spend before 6pm in any area.
  • From 6pm every area has a minimum spend, and the amount is not published.
  • Most tables have a 3 hour limit and are released after 15 minutes of delay.
  • The DJ booth area is adults only with a dress code.

How booking and minimum spend work

You book on Cafe Mambo's own reservations page. For a table within the next 4 hours, the venue asks you to call instead. There are four areas: the seafront row with the direct sunset view, the regular terrace behind it, the cocktail bar area with a limited view and the DJ booth area on the wooden deck outside. Before 6pm none of them has a minimum spend. From 6pm all of them do. The reservations page marks each area with a minimum spend but does not publish the amount, so ask before you commit.

Tables have a 3 hour time limit, except in the DJ booth area. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the table is released.

When to go

Pick your moment. Lunch or an afternoon drink is the cheapest way in, since there is no minimum spend before 6pm. Sunset is the busiest slot and the one you must book. The venue stays open until 3am. The season runs in summer, so check the current year's opening and closing dates on the official site.

Sunset without a table

The sunset itself is free. Many people watch it from the promenade and the rocks around the strip without sitting down anywhere. Our San Antonio sunset strip guide explains the other bars and where to stand.

The same sunset from the sea

A boat puts you in front of the strip instead of on it. Two sunset trips leave from San Antonio harbour, checked on Viator on 30 September 2026:

Viator prices change with the date. For more options see all sunset cruises from Ibiza and our Ibiza boat party guide.

Boat first, strip after

Both boats meet in San Antonio harbour, a short walk from the strip. The sunset boat party meets at 5pm at its kiosk in front of the fountains near the Egg roundabout, according to its Viator listing, and lasts 3.5 hours. That means you watch the sunset from the water and land back in San Antonio for the evening, so a table at Cafe Mambo becomes an after sunset plan rather than the main event.

Before you go

  • Book days ahead in July and August if you want the seafront row.
  • Ask about the minimum spend for your area before booking, since the page does not publish it.
  • Know the cancellation policy: cancelling less than 48 hours ahead costs 50 EUR per person for groups of up to 7, and groups of 8 or more lose the prepayment.
  • Check the DJ booth dress code if you book that area.
  • Plan how you get back to your hotel before the night starts.
